JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Tenure-track Assistant Professor, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ)

NAOJ invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor (ILR fellow) position at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC).

During a tenure-track term, the successful candidate will be employed as an ILR fellow of the JSPS International Leading Research (ILR) program (“Comprehensive understanding of the formation history of structures in the Universe”, PI: Prof. Satoshi Miyazaki) to engage in research and development for Wavefront Sensor system and Laser Guide Star facility being developed for the Subaru Ground Layer Adaptive Optics (GLAO) system. The successful candidate will also be required to spend approximately half of the term at the Australian National University (ANU) for an extended period to conduct the GLAO-related research and development.

The maximum term as an ILR Fellow will be until March 31, 2029.  There will be a tenure-track review around the end of the term. After passing the review, the candidate is expected to become a tenured assistant professor at the ATC to promote research and development in the field of Adaptive Optics.
